Window previews for Mac
See every window.
Sweep the old ones.
Rest the pointer on an app in the Dock and its windows rise above it as pictures, even minimized ones and those on other desktops. Click one to go there. Switch windows with ⌥ Tab like on Windows, and clear out the ones you forgot about in one sweep.

⌥ Tab, just like
Alt+Tab on Windows.
Hold ⌥ and press Tab to walk through every window, most recently used first. Let go to switch. Minimized windows are there too.
- ⌘ Tab switches apps, as on a Mac. Pick an app, then ↓ to pick one of its windows. Prefer the macOS switcher? Turn it off in Settings.
- ⌃ Tab is left alone for your browser tabs.
- Want other keys? Press the ones you like in Settings.
Too many windows?
Sweep them.
⌃ ⌥ W lays out every window at once, grouped by app. A small badge shows how long since you last used each one. Pick the old ones, then close or minimize them together.
- Select old windows picks the ones you haven’t touched for a while.
- Closing works like the window’s own close button, so unsaved work still asks first.
- Search by window name.

Good to know.
Is it like DockDoor or AltTab?
A little. They’re good apps, and if one already suits you, keep it. Panesweep puts three things in one small app: window pictures above the Dock, Windows-style switching with ⌥Tab, and sweeping away windows you haven’t used for a while. It says everything in plain words, in 9 languages.
What do I need to allow?
Accessibility, so Panesweep can show, minimize and close windows and see which Dock icon you’re pointing at. Screen Recording is only for the window pictures. It’s optional: turn off Window pictures in Settings and you’ll see app icons and window names instead, and macOS never asks.
Why does macOS ask about “bypassing the window picker”?
That’s how recent macOS versions word their reminder for Screen Recording. It shows up now and then for every app that takes window pictures. Choose Allow to keep the pictures, or turn off Window pictures in Settings so it doesn’t appear.
Do my windows go anywhere?
No. Window pictures stay on your Mac. The only time Panesweep goes online is to activate a license and recheck it about once a week with panesweep.pages.dev, sending only the license key and a random install number. See Privacy.
Can I lose unsaved work by closing?
No more than with the window’s own close button. Closing is exactly that, so apps still ask whether to save. Those windows stay open until you answer.
What’s free and what’s Pro?
Dock previews, ⌥Tab and ⌘Tab switching and the sweep view are free, one window at a time. Selecting several windows at once and Select old windows are Pro, free to try for 14 days from the first time you use them.
How does the license work?
$4.99 once lets one person use version 1 and its updates on up to 3 of their Macs. Paste the key from your receipt into License in Settings. Full refund within 14 days of purchase.
Why isn’t it on the App Store?
Finding windows on other desktops needs Mac features the App Store doesn’t allow, so Panesweep comes from this site. It’s signed with an Apple developer certificate and checked by Apple (notarized).
